Mocha Mousse Flowers for 2025 Weddings

Mocha Mousse Flowers for Weddings in 2025

Have you heard about Mocha Mousse? This gorgeous shade of brown was just named Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2025, and we’re whipping ourselves into a frenzy thinking of all the gorgeous flowers that will fit this trend. While we always love to design in our signature wildflower garden style, color trends are a fun way for our team of hyper-creative florists to try new things and keep their designs fresh.

Our floral design team eagerly awaits Pantone’s color of the year announcement every December – last year we were excited to see that the color of 2024 was going to be Peach Fuzz!! What an exciting year for a team of florists that love all things peach! While you’ll still see tons of peach flowers in our floral designs for weddings this year (and on the stem bar in our South Park and Solana Beach flower shops), Native Poppy’s florists are dreaming of fun new color combinations that we can create to celebrate Mocha Mousse.

Our Favorite Mocha Mousse Flowers

You might be wondering, “What kind of flowers are mocha brown?!” Well, you’re not alone – many of our clients and customers are surprised to find that some flower varieties can be found in varied shades of brown, from cappuccino to molasses. While you might think that a brown flower would look dead or wilted, we’ve found lots of varieties that add sophistication and elegant earthiness to flower arrangements.

Roses

Icons of the floral world, roses come in a remarkable rainbow of colors, including shades similar to Mocha Mousse! Moab Roses and Cafe Latte Garden Roses are some of our favorites, with milky coffee tones that range from toffee-tinged to blush. Koko Loko Roses and Cappuccino Roses are also favorites, perfect for adding to floral centerpieces or even wedding bouquets.

Anthurium

This gorgeous tropical variety features heart shaped leaves and blooms in a variety of colors, including a dark chocolate brown and a shimmering “Prestige” anthurium in an eye-catching tan tinged with grey and red.

Sweet Pea

This fragrant favorite comes in “Brownie” and “Japanese Chocolate” varieties, both echoing the soft, warming tones of Mocha Mousse.

Chocolate Lace

Elegant and floaty, Lace flower is an airy addition to any arrangement. We love the Chocolate variety, which has been a volunteer growing in Native Poppy’s flower garden for years!

Amaranthus

Known for their romantic, arched “weeping” flower heads, Amaranthus is a favorite of ours for bouquets. Earthy and natural, Amaranthus adds unexpected flair to bouquets.

Cymbidium Orchid

These stunning tropical blooms come in a variety of vibrant shades, but we’re drawn to chocolate Cymbidium Orchids (which come in large and small flowerhead varieties!) for their rich color and sophistication.

Tulip

A classic flower with a fascinating history, Some varieties naturally grow in taupe shades, but tulips are remarkably well suited for taking up dye to transform their petals and leaves into almost any color. We’ve seen gorgeous dyed tulips in shades of mauve-brown that add traditional elegance to arrangements.

Lisianthus

Our team loves “Lisis” – these are a staple of Native Poppy’s flower wraps and arrangements. The chocolate variety can lean towards greenish-blush, with a tinge of cocoa. Its soft, fluffy petals win us over every time.

Bronze Button Mums

These cuties have a warmer, orange glow than some of the other cool toned mocha florals on our list, but we love these hardy flowers for their long vase life.

Dried Flowers + Dyed Preserved Flowers

Using dyed and preserved flowers in arrangements opens the door for even more artistic flair! Some of our favorite mocha-tinted dried and preserved flowers include preserved eucalyptus and leather leaf fern, dried sponge mushroom, dyed bunny tails (lagurus grass), dyed phalaris, and dyed hydrangea.

Pantone’s announcement of their color of the year called Mocha Mousse, “A warming, brown hue imbued with richness. Mocha Mousse is sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.” We’re excited to find more opportunities to work with these beautiful Mocha Mousse blooms in 2025!

How We Incorporate Mocha Mousse in Wedding Flowers

Adding a little Mocha Mousse into the flowers for your special day is a beautiful way to keep your wedding floral designs grounded and refined. Native Poppy florists integrate many of our favorite Mocha Mousse flowers into items like wedding bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnières, bud vases, and even large scale installations like floral arches and hanging aerial flower pieces.

When we flowered for Grace and Kade’s full service wedding, Mocha Mousse was a star, featured in the bridal bouquet, centerpieces, as well as their floral arch! This couple wanted a luxe, neutral palette for their wedding, and adding touches of rich browns, blush, and caramel-colored flowers added dimension to their wedding florals.

Michelle and Brent’s moody and glamorous full service wedding featured many elegant shades of brown, paired with dusty peach, blush, and cream to create ethereal floral clouds that floated above their dance floor. Dyed baby’s breath in Mocha Mousse added airy lightness to the installation, and rainpod branches echoed the taupe hues with a warmer pink hue.

Featuring a bridal bouquet tied with a Mocha Mousse chiffon ribbon, Haleh and Adam’s full service wedding included warm earth tones that invoked exotic spices. Their hanging floral installation at their reception integrated cappuccino tones with rich terracotta, turmeric, and cayenne shades, creating a gorgeous aerial floral install.

Wedding flowers ordered from our À La Carte Wedding Menu have gotten the Mocha Mousse treatment, too! While our À La Carte clients usually select from our standard palettes (Bright & Cheery, Elegant & Neutral, etc), it’s our pleasure to find opportunities to delight couples by incorporating their favorite hues into their personal flowers like bouquets and boutonnieres.

For example, Katie and Danny’s À La Carte wedding flowers featured sophisticated earth tones with a desert vibe. We've added pops of Mocha Mousse flowers to the designs for many À La Carte weddings, including amaranthus in wedding bouquets, chocolate butterfly ranunculus and tulips in aisle markers, Moab roses in floral arches, and bronze button mums in the centerpieces or bud vase arrangements at the reception!

Mocha Mousse Floral Color Combos

Brown and white neutral floral centerpiece

We love mixing warm brown tones with elegant neutrals like ivory roses, white waxflower, creamy dahlias, pale blush cremon mums, and tan pampas grass, which creates a boho, vintage vibe. Pantone agrees, and in their suggested color palette for Mocha Mousse, called “Relaxed Elegance,” you’ll find their color of the year paired with cream, blush, muted terracotta, and cocoa shades.

Peach flowers paired with mocha mousse and ivory

Never afraid to try a non-traditional pairing, we also love to pair Mocha Mousse with Native Poppy’s signature color: peach! We find that adding a warm earth tone like Mocha Mousse to a vibrant bouquet of peach florals brings a grounding comfort to the design.

Blue and brown flowers for a donor gala

Pantone’s “Floral Pathways” color palette also suggests combining Mocha Mousse flowers with cornflower blue, matcha green, dusty rose, and muted lavender. We especially love pairing taupe florals with cornflower blue – it’s a perfect pairing. For a special event, like the donor event we flowered for Rady’s Children’s Hospital, adding milk chocolate blooms elevated the designs to new heights, creating mini works of art for each table.

For a dark and moody vibe, we recommend pairing mocha mousse with even darker shades of brown and burgundy, with pops of a lighter neutral color to lift the overall design. Some of our favorite dark and moody flowers that vibe with Mocha Mousse? Try Chocolate Cosmos, cream colored Zinnia, Chocolate Ranunculus, Burgundy Checkered Fritillaria, and Chocolate Sunflowers.
