Elevate Your Thanksgiving Table: Stunning Centerpieces and More
We love that Thanksgiving is a time to gather, give thanks, and eat a delicious, over the top meal. We also love that it’s one heck of an excuse to set a killer Thanksgiving table and blow away your mother-in-law! Whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving, the Autumn Equinox, Friendsgiving, or just relishing in the coziness of gathering for the fall, setting a beautiful and intentional Thanksgiving tablescape is a way to show thanks. Designing a Pinterest-worthy and welcoming atmosphere for fall starts with flowers, and there are so many stunning ways to decorate.
Using Dried Flowers For Autumn Gatherings
Dried flowers are never more at home than during fall and Thanksgiving. You can opt for a dried floral theme throughout your home by placing a dried wreath on your front door, dried bud vases around your home, and can even gift a dried flower wrap when you get to be a guest and want to treat the host. Dried flowers are a stellar gift for the host for any autumn gathering because they are super low-maintenance and last all season long!
Color Palettes for Thanksgiving
Like a wedding or any other event you host, we believe your Thanksgiving color palette and fall decor can be anything you want! We love leaning into the rich golden, terracotta and amber hues, reminiscent of fields of wheat and pumpkin everything — with a little peach sprinkled in. Peach plays perfectly with the warm tones of fall and adds a modern, feminine twist.
To achieve the look, we order our go-to blooms in fall colors adding seasonal touches such as nandina greenery that changes colors in the fall and echoes the turning trees (in some parts of the country).
Our favorite flowers in season for Thanksgiving include:
- Marigolds
- Ranunculus
- Nandina
- Broom Corn
- Cremons
- Strawflower
- Lisianthus
- Amaranthus
How to Choose a Fall Flower Arrangement for Your Table
Selecting the type of arrangement depends on the size, shape and fullness of your table. You can select a Long + Low Arrangement, ideal for longer rectangular tables and an extra lush/ full Thanksgiving tablescape.
You can also opt for a circular arrangement akin to a more traditional Thanksgiving Centerpiece. This size and shape fits right at home on a slightly smaller rectangular dining table or a round table.
Bud vase flower arrangements are a darling addition to either size of arrangement on your Thanksgiving table, and are also lovely to add around your home for additional autumnal decor.
Something Other Than Flowers
If you prefer a more minimal Thanksgiving table or want to celebrate the beauty of fall foliage for your autumn gathering, a garland is a stunning alternative to a flower arrangement. Garlands with both fresh and dried foliage still smell wonderful and incorporate the colors of fall. In addition to using a garland on your Thanksgiving table, you can use them on your fireplace mantle, stair banister, and over door and window frames. The fresh component in these garlands will dry as well, allowing you to enjoy them for weeks, if not months!
Florist tips: take it up a notch by adding taper candles! You won’t catch us setting a Thanksgiving table, or any other table for that matter, without taper candles. They’re dainty, elegant, and the glow they cast around the Thanksgiving table is pure magic!
Consider Eating Al Fresco
If you’re lucky enough to live in a place where warmer temperatures are present late into November, consider eating outside this gathering season. Setting a stunning Thanksgiving table outside pumps up the wow factor and allows you to enjoy the crisp autumn air and buttery light of sunset.
Whether you’re hosting a big hoopla, an intimate dinner for two, or anything in between, we hope you find joy and gratitude in gathering this season, and that you find ways to incorporate the power of flowers, whatever that looks like for you.
