Fall Color Palettes to Inspire Your Decor and Entertaining

What’s the one thing that jump-starts almost every design plan we make? Color! As we enter the season of decorating and gathering, we’re sharing three fall color palettes we’re loving right now. Plus, exactly how to create them on your own!

The best fall color palettes don’t have to feel predictable. A soft peach can feel autumnal when paired with burnt orange; shades of yellow make a fall gathering feel warm and welcoming when balanced with creamy neutrals; and going all in on green gets a seasonal spin when paired with cozy textures and flowering vegetables - that’s right, you heard us correctly.

We’ve curated 3 fall color palettes that will help you bring fall to your space through flowers, textures and decor from Yours Truly.

Peach & Pumpkin: A Traditional Fall Color Palette, Native Poppy Style

When planning for fall, it’s completely normal to reach for anything and everything pumpkin - we’re all in - but, instead of adding the expected brown and rust, consider a pop of peach! "Native Poppy suggesting peach? Shocking!" But hear us out.

Adding shades of blush and peach offer more contrast against the darker tones of fall. It can also create a softer, more romantic feel for your fall decor or gathering. You can play with ratios within a fall color palette to match your decor, feature a certain piece, or lean into personal preferences. For example, if you typically opt for a more traditional fall color palette and want to play with a bit of peach, lay a foundation with items in those warm tones. This warm brown striped mug is a team and customer favorite alike; pumpkin tapered candlesticks bring color and elegance; the cover color of Edible Flowers is the perfect book to style your space with. Then, select just one or two peach elements such as the flowers or these peach gingham napkins that transcend fall to spring depending on what you pair them with.

Co-owner, Meg, notes that, “I’ll always pick peach - any time, any place. Pumpkin + Peach is my favorite and go-to fall color palette. I lean heavy into the shades of peach and pink, with smaller pops of warm fall tones like pumpkin! Our new delicate glass Maren Candlestick holders are a must for me this season.”

Mustard & Custard: A Sunny San Diego Fall Color Palette

Ivory and cream are timeless, and when paired with shades of yellow, become warm and inviting. "But yellow seems so bright!" If adding color to your neutral fall palette feels intimidating, start with something low-commitment like the flowers themselves! Guess what - if you don’t love them, they only last around a week anyway! Blooms in shades of gold and ochre will provide a touch of yellow to make it feel like fall.

Yearning for more yellow? Let’s do it! There’s a reason yellow is the color of happiness - honey, butter, sunshine! Olive & Pistachio: An Earthy Fall Color Palette

Green is a classic, year-round color that is neutral, grounding, fresh, and familiar all at once. If you’re giddy about green throughout the seasons, you can give it a fall refresh in a few easy ways.

Layer different shades of green, focusing on middle-toned hues such as olive, pistachio and sage; leaning too dark towards emerald and forest can feel like a winter palette, but these greens trend towards fall. Try it yourself with an array of vases and various colors of tapered candlesticks. You can also add cozy textures and patterns in shades of green - napkins and mugs are the perfect place to do so!

Founder and owner, Natalie, is a gal who loves green so much, she designed her entire kitchen around it, “I do love green! Because green is such a present color in my house year round, I like to bring in fall flowers and greenery to make it feel a little different. And green candles - both scented and tapered!”

Another way to reimagine green into your fall color palette is with fresh flowers and greenery. Yes - there are green flowers! Incorporating ornamental kale, artichokes, and flowering allium is an inspired way to bring seasonal, veggie-esque blooms into your space. Or opt for a grand, single-variety arrangement of greenery like explosion grass - whimsical and feels like a fall harvest from the farm!

Fall Color Palettes, Your Way

If you’re not sure which palette is right for you, look around your space at your favorite, beloved pieces - the linens you’ve used a hundred times, the vase from your grandmother’s shelf, the candlesticks you have stored away in your vintage hutch that come out every year - the colors of those cherished items are a perfect place to start! Use a bit of nostalgia and personality to find your fall color palette.

If you’re looking for ways to bring a fall color palette to life when decorating or hosting this season, we hope you found inspiration here! Fall color palettes can be anything you want - maybe your version of fall is full of peach, all golden, more green, or a mix of the three. Have fun with it!
