Fall Floral Events for Flower Lovers
While it still feels like peak summer, autumn is just around the corner! Flowers are blooming and we’re getting gorgeous deliveries from our local-growers, which means this season is a beautiful time for a floral workshop or event to enjoy the best of the season. We’re hosting tons of fun floral events this time of year, and there are even more awesome fall floral events hosted by others in the San Diego community. We’ve gathered a list of our most hotly anticipated flower events to help you enjoy the power of flowers all through the fall.
SoCal Plumeria Society’s Plumeria Festival

Lovers of this gorgeous tropical flower will swoon over this community event celebrating the beautiful plumeria flower. Hosted by the Southern California Plumeria Society, the annual Plumeria Festival offers live entertainment, a flower show showcasing their member’s beautiful blooms, and one of Southern California’s most extensive potted plant sales, so you can grow your own plumeria! This event is free and open to the public in the Casa del Prado, inside Balboa Park in San Diego.
Flower Arranging 101 Workshop

Get ready to arrange flowers like a pro at this fun, after-hours Flower Arranging 101 workshop, with special seasonal instruction on color theory for floral design. Join us at our Solana Beach store to learn Native Poppy's signature, wild style for building an artistic flower arrangement in a stunning autumnal color palette. Snag our florist’s tips and tricks to create a floral arrangement with ease – you can sign up with a friend for this fall floral event, or meet fellow-flower lovers there!

Discover the Japanese art of flower arrangement, a disciplined art form that breathes life into each composition, harmonizing the elements of nature and humanity. Learn to Draw Fabulous Flora with Mark Kistler

Learn tips and tricks for drawing flowers with this workshop with artist Mark Kistler, held at the gorgeous San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas. Get inspired by the varied plant life of the garden, and let Kistler’s lively step-by-step instruction guide you through creating your own botanical works of art. A great class for someone looking to stretch their creativity and enjoy some time outdoors. You may also be lucky enough to catch the garden’s rare corpse flower in bloom!

ACLU Fundraiser Dinner + Flower Arranging Workshop

Native Poppy is proud to support the ACLU with a creative fundraiser with a beautiful ocean view – and dinner, to boot! Join us for two hours of entertaining floral design education with Native Poppy florists, and create a stunning arrangement using flowers generously donated by Cali Wholesale. Student work will become the centerpieces as we finish the night at our delicious dinner party on L'Auberge's sunset terrace with an ocean view.

Bring your own flowers and branches, a kenzan (Flower frog), Ikebana scissors or floral shears, and a container, and get ready to try your hand at this beautiful, meticulous art form. Join Yumi Rakers, a certified instructor of the Sogetsu-ryu school of Ikebana, to practice this beautiful floral arranging technique in the inspiring Japanese Friendship Garden. Part floral art, and part mindfulness practice, Sogetsu Ikebana aims to be present, to be vibrant, and to be flexible. A beautiful way to relax into your creativity!

Flower Arranging Workshop + Floral Painting Class

This workshop features instruction on floral arranging from Native Poppy’s pro florists, then a live painting demo and instruction with Michaela Jean Art - flower gardener and painter! The San Diego Orchid Society will be hosting a two-day event highlighting the beauty and incredible variations of this beautiful flower, with expert tips for growing orchids, repotting plants, and mounting orchids for gorgeous displays. The show will include a judged exhibition of orchids, as well as an orchid sale for anyone hoping to add a pretty plant to their collection.
