Our Newest Location: Native Poppy, La Mesa
After searching far and wide for two years, Native Poppy, La Mesa is confirmed to open this year!
If you’ve been with us over the last couple years, you know about the floods - that’s right, plural. Our Mission Valley studio flooded twice, once in January of 2024 and again on New Year’s Day of 2026. After the first flood, we started looking for a new studio location. To our surprise and dismay, it was much harder to find a spot that was the right size for us and fit the budget, let alone a spot that was also in a safe and central area, had parking for our team and delivery vans, etc. We came very close to signing a lease on not one but two different properties over a year and a half, but neither ended up being the right fit. Finally, in the fall of 2025, it seemed we had found a spot - the spot - Native Poppy, La Mesa!
The studio will be opening for Native Poppy, La Mesa in late fall of 2026, and a new storefront along with it! This spot will be bigger than our previous studio, with room for workshops and small events. Connected to the studio space, in front of the building will be a retail store-front similar to the size of our beloved South Park location.

Location, Location, Location
We are thrilled that our new headquarters will be in La Mesa! Not only is La Mesa centrally located in the southern region of San Diego, making it the ideal location to serve more of our community both via delivery and walk-in traffic, but we also feel right at home because of the neighborhood’s roots. La Mesa used to largely be citrus groves and farming land, and the downtown area is accredited with being one of the few in San Diego that is still overflowing with “small town charm.” With a surge of new coffee shops, foodie spots, and quaint boutiques popping up in La Mesa, we are stoked to be among them and honored to be a part of this beautiful community.
Design Inspiration for Native Poppy, La Mesa

When we saw the 70’s stone-work and A-frame roof-line, we agreed that the space had a retro ski chalet vibe. These design details earned the space the internal nickname, “Le Chalet” which it has affectionately been called during the renovation process. Inside, the charm continues with elevated peaks, tiny windows and exposed beams, giving Scandinavian undertones. Of course our signature brand “Poppy Peach” will be ever present, and the landscaping will take a nod from local, native and drought-tolerant plants.
Think of Native Poppy, La Mesa as a vintage cabin in the hills of Norway with a super blooming garden reminiscent of the California deserts. A lot? Maybe! Inspired? Absolutely!
Leading the design for Native Poppy, La Mesa is Jennah Walls of Walls Design Co. A long time friend of Meg’s who actually helped renovate both hers and Natalie’s homes, Jennah brings an incredible level of detail and sophistication to the project. Rooted in timeless style and neutral color palettes, Jennah is the perfect compliment to the wild, colorful, more-is-more vision Nat and Meg typically come to the table with.

Jennah’s expertise will keep the space light, bright and clean while incorporating pops of color and playful accents. Her favorite design detail? Jennah pitched adding a, “Scandinavian floral stencil design, that will be little treasures woven throughout the building. You’ll find these on the front door, on beams throughout the building and even looking up at the skylights.”

The floral themes are strong, understandably, so Jennah is excited to be “working on a floral mosaic tile pattern for the washroom floors” amidst other design surprises in the restrooms - something Natalie and Meg feel strongly about. Who doesn’t love a cute bathroom?!

Jennah and her contractor husband, Luke Walls, saw the destruction from the flood first-hand, joining the team on-site in the early days to assess the damage and show support. We are so lucky to be working with them on this project now, especially as Jennah shared that, “after all the flooding at the last studio, I’m just so excited to be designing a space for the Native Poppy team to not only feel safe and productive in, but also inspired as they’re working.”
Jennah will also be designing our new Carlsbad space, opening in Spring of 2027. More to come on the design for that space and what will make it different!
We are so excited to be a part of the La Mesa community and share the new beautiful Native Poppy, La Mesa with you soon!
